Amateur Supercross Event Rocks Boulder City Motocross

Las Vegas, NV – June 22, 2007 – The Amateur Supercross Event held at Boulder City Motocross on Saturday night, June 19, encompassed 15 classes and 54 riders. The event began with an official practice on Friday night and a race start time of 6 PM on Saturday. With a gentle breeze, temperatures in the 80s gave the racers a comfortable ride. 

Racing on a track designed and built specifically for this event, promoter Shane Davis looked to provide amateurs with a track that normally is not available to them in competitions. “Very rarely do amateur racers get to compete on a supercross track which is why I decided to create this event and track for them,” said Davis. By creating the track, Davis literally was the one channeling the dirt and building the track until the early morning hours just days before the event.

Double-class race winner and Boulder City Motocross regular Blake Slagle enjoyed the new supercross track design. “I’d like to see more races with a supercross track. The whoops are bigger and the jumps are harder.  It was more fun on this track,” said Slagle. 

Racing under the lights, the supercross track provided plenty of technical areas to the competitors. Several corners proved to be a consistent challenge to the racers as many found themselves laying on the dirt and hurrying to restart their bikes before they fell too far behind.  Overall, the eight-lap main proved to be exciting with lead changes and stellar riding from the racers.    

Davis plans to create more events similar to this supercross event where riders will, once again, have the opportunity to race on a supercross track. “From the beginning, when we had announced this race, we had a tremendous response from the riders and I look to host more events similar to this in the near future,” concluded Davis.
